Weekend recap

Another weekend down and a chance for a leisurely  look back at all that was done.

Friday night had SWMBO out with friends, so the cat and I stayed in, had an early tea and watched some sport on telly.

Saturday morning was rather miserable and I was glad I had decided in advance I wouldn't be running. Instead, I pottered round the house doing odd jobs and cleaning. We then popped into town to do a bit of crimbo shopping. As expected, town was mental. We started on the North Side and got a couple of small pressies before checking out the running gear at Sports Direct. What an infuriating shop. Their website manages to group sports, but their shop sort of does mostly doesn't, which meant I gave up after a bit and left in a huff, exacerbated by the crowds. We did pass Decathlon and deemed it worthwhile dropping in which in retrospect was a good idea as the ladywife now has completed her Christmas shopping for me.

The South Side was relatively calmer and I spent some quality time in Peterson's buying a pipe as a gift. Shopping completed, we hoped to adjourn to the old stand for some libation, but it was absolutely jam packed. To be fair, what else would you expect at four o'clock on Saturday in December. We did find a pub, had a pint and then left for supper, which herself had booked for us at the Jamie Oliver. Very tasty it was. The Saturday night Christmas movie was Die Hard 2.

Sunday was another day of small odd jobs and cleaning, before snacking on cheese and biscuits while watching Home Alone, the first of the "Real" Christmas films this season.

Groaners

Time for Thursday's collection of groaners. Admit it, one or two will raise a wry smile or a chuckle.
